Independent Academic Paper Compares Use of Insurance-Based Credit Risk Transfers Globally

A new independent academic paper written by leading credit risk professionals compares and contrasts the current status and trends in the use of insurance-based credit risk transfers in leading jurisdictions, including the US (for both GSEs residential mortgages and banks), the EU and the UK. The IACPM, which did not write the paper, is posting it here to inform interested readers. This comes as the regulatory treatment of insurers’ credit protections on tranches of SRT securitisations is under review in the main jurisdictions.
