The IACPM and Oliver Wyman are conducting a joint study on the governance of (agentic) AI within wholesale credit processes at IACPM member firms.
The survey focuses on five dimensions of governance:
- Risk-identification and risk tiering
- Capability-specific measurement and evaluation
- Runtime controls and operational governance
- System monitoring
- Enterprise and systemic AI risk management
Together, these dimensions provide a structured view of how financial institutions are evolving from traditional model governance toward governance of autonomous AI systems operating in production business environments.
Recognizing that many institutions are still developing their agentic AI capabilities, the survey will capture both current and planned controls. Respondents are asked to consider how their existing controls framework—or their target operating model—would govern these applications, whether they are already deployed, being piloted, or still in the planning stages.
Why this research now?
There is a narrowing window to shape AI governance proactively rather than reactively. Our research will provide a fact-based, industry-wide view of emerging AI governance practices, with a focus on generative and agentic AI, fiduciary accountability, and board-level oversight.
